It’s become an annual ritual of cake-baking and tea-brewing which involves dozens of volunteers during the National Garden Scheme weekend. We sliced up 38 beautiful home-baked sponges and tray bakes, took to the drinks stations, washed up like galley slaves and had a lot of fun doing it. We met lots of lovely new people – pictured are a brightly dressed couple from Cologne in Germany and a young family from Lincolnshire – and we swept up every crumb as guests departed. Thank you to everyone who made a cake, stirred a coffee or sold an ice cream. We know we ask a lot of you and you never let us down! We will be able to make a generous donation to Shipston Home Nursing this year
