Our little community café has reopened, for outside service only, on the terrace. It’s a fair-weather operation, run by volunteers. Think coffee shop, rather than a commercial restaurant; cake, not three courses!
In fact, our menu mostly consists of cake, but it is good cake. The bakers of Ilmington are working away in their home kitchens to keep us supplied with Victoria Sponge and Banana Loaf, Fruit Cake and Flapjack.
We’ll toast you a teacake, or warm you up a scone, but the important headline is that we are a community-run cooperative, staffed by volunteers and run for the benefit of our community. We welcome visitors and we always aim to be friendly, but we may not be fast!
Sometimes we have to close our doors to customers, so we can prioritise community groups, or prepare grocery deliveries for vulnerable residents. If you are travelling from afar, or plan to bring groups of more than six after lockdown, it would be best to call in advance, or email us to see if we can accommodate you. See the contact details below.
Thank you for your understanding. The kettle is on…
