This New Year: become a volunteer! Would you like to join the wonderful task force of people working front of house and behind the scenes at Ilmington Community Shop? “There are lots of ways to help,” says Susan Brock, who has volunteered in the shop since it opened in 2015 and has taken over the role of Volunteer Liaison. Her first job of 2021 is a shout-out for new recruits. “If nothing else, volunteering in Ilmington Shop is good fun,” she says, “a chance to make new friends, to share gossip and a joke with neighbours, to get out of the house and, of course, to enjoy the feel-good factor of making a positive contribution to the community.
