This long weekend is the perfect time to indulge in a book. Next week’s book club is reviewing ‘The Girl with the Louding Voice’, a coming of age novel and the debut novel of Nigerian writer Abi Daré. It follows the story of Nigerian teenager Adunni and her struggles as she grows up, including her ability to speak up for herself. Featured on BBC 2’s Between the Covers last year, it promises to transport us all to a land faraway…. maybe a better bet than attempting to fly somewhere this weekend from the latest reports….
And if you’ve got so engrossed in your book over the weekend that you’ve forgotten to eat, join us on Sunday from noon for our Jubilee Street Party and Pig Roast!
