
…curvy amphoras for carrying olive oil and an Iron Age princess’s mirror: on Friday in the café we moved from essential items to objects of enchantment, as archaeologist Brian Meredith described the ancient history of Ilmington, the Stour Valley and the wider Cotswolds area. We learnt about the Black Death and real life, forgotten Manor Houses and how to skin a sheep in 30 seconds. Well served with cake and coffee, we were all enchanted by Brian’s short talk, which marked the end of his history display in the Community Café.
