They weren’t here to taste our village homemade cake, but to assess how our food is handled, prepared and stored. How clean is our kitchen? And are all the staff properly trained? Running a volunteer-led business is never easy, but the team have great systems to follow and the support of two managers. If it gets very busy, they can press a special doorbell and the back-up troops come running. We have good labelling systems and a diary where records are kept. It’s all designed to make volunteering in our café as easy and as much fun as possible. And – as it turns out – hygienic too! Thank you to all our café and shop volunteers for everything you do
