So much more than a village fair, the show attracts thousands of people every August Bank Holiday Monday. Events kick off at 1pm in Ilmington Playing Fields with the Shipston Town Crier. Then it’s an afternoon of delights: live music and classic cars, Dinosaur Invasion and a fun dog show. There are old favourites and new – from Ilmington Morris dancers to Dangerous Steve’s daring motorbike display. Headlining in the grand marquee is the Horticultural Society, with trophies and glory to be earned and entries to be admired. A wide range of food options include Persian street food, paella and, of course, fish and chips. Ilmington Community Shop will have a stall selling cold drinks and offering information about membership and volunteering. We are also running a treasure hunt with prizes for children. Our shop on Upper Green is open from 8.30am to 1pm on Bank Holiday Monday and this will be a chance to get yourself some change – in exchange for a purchase of course! Cash may still be preferred by some stallholders and four big charities will benefit from your support. Come and say hello to the community shop – we’d love to see you.
