Three-month old Annie with her wave of black hair and one-year-old redhead Fraser, the cool kid in the high chair. We welcome babies of all shapes and sizes at our Parent and Baby Group on Wednesday mornings at Ilmington Community Café. It’s been one of our most successful groups, giving mums and dads, pregnant mums and grandparents the chance to get out of the house and share stories. “It’s a great way to get together and meet other mums,” says Nanny Jan, who’s here with daughter Stacey (left) to meet Fraser with his mum Robyn. “We’ve got to know a few of the mums here, but now my granddaughter has gone to nursery.” Since we started the group in 2020, a generation of Ilmington Café babies has been heading off to school or nursery, which is why we are seeking fresh new recruits to join our Wednesday mornings. Come along from 10am: we are not a playgroup, just a warm and welcoming space, run by volunteers. We’ve got books and games to entertain the toddlers and the kettle’s always on
