… and this is the time of year when we invite more of you to join us. Buying a share for £10 (or more) entitles you to attend the AGM and become a member, with an equal vote in the running of the business. We caught up with Helen Patrick, one of more than 400 members who make up the cooperative. “I became a member two years ago,” says Helen. “I felt the shop was an important service to provide for the village and I wanted to support the volunteers who give so much of their time.” Helen lives in Shipston but she shops with us and volunteers, too. “I do cleaning after hours, early evenings once a month,” says Helen, “and help out at events. In the summer, I do early shifts in the shop, baking bread and putting out the newspapers. I also support the business by shopping here – birthday cards, Christmassy bits, eggs and vegetables in particular. I’m just going in now to get eggs!” Membership is open from now until 17th March, giving you the right to attend and vote at our AGM on 21st March.
