…but the scrumptious brownies and flapjacks we sell in Ilmington Community Shop are made exclusively for us by an award-winning artisan baker! The Pinwheel Patisserie is a mother and daughter team based in Leamington Spa. Mum Tricia Roe can sometimes be seen on Upper Green with a tray of delicious bakes in her arms. “We started making the brownies and flapjacks individually for Ilmington Shop because – well, it helped during lockdown to keep the shop in cake, really.” Keeping a community in cake seems like a splendid endeavour to us. Daughter Keira is the master baker and Tricia does the accounts, the packing, the deliveries and no doubt the bottle-washing when required. They took over the business last March and despite the crazy timing, have already been named Patisserie of the Year in the Central England Prestige Awards. “I think it’s great to supply a local shop that’s run by volunteers,” says Tricia. “Small villages really need this kind of venture at the heart. We come from a village in the Dales where there wasn’t a shop and anywhere you went you had to go in a car. Your shop is so important for the community.” We love working with The Pinwheel Patisserie too.
