As we approach New Year, we would like to share this lovely video and post from Chris Cowcher of the Plunkett Foundation, the charity that supports community enterprises like ours. We’ve been working with them since before the shop opened. The Plunkett Foundation has given us invaluable advice and training over the years. Besides his professional connection, Chris happens to be our customer too. He wrote this to the Community Shop Network, a closed Facebook group:
“Merry Christmas to you all, I hope that you are all enjoying some good festive trade and more importantly that you’re getting some time off over the next few days!
“Christmas begins in earnest in the Cowcher-Grant household now that I’ve been and collected the amazing food order from Ilmington Community Shop and Café!! An absolutely brilliant effort being put in by the manager, Michele and her team of volunteers! After this unprecedented year, it was just awesome to hear that yesterday’s trade was one of their best ever days! And I literally cannot wait to try the locally made rum!!
“Anyway apologies that my breath is taken away mid video, it was a tad cold outside… but equally please know that your efforts (each and every community shop across the UK) has had this effect on the whole Plunkett Foundation team many times over this year! We have just been amazed at your resilience, adaptability and dedication to your communities. Well done to you all.
“Here’s to a happier and healthier 2021 for everyone, we look forward to working with you all then.”
Thank you Chris and the Plunkett Foundation for all your support over the year.
