– and we are celebrating with a trip down memory lane. We’ve got so many lovely pictures of the build and fit-out of the old Catholic Church on Upper Green. Dozens of volunteers put in physical hard graft to get the shop ready for opening: some working until 1.30am on the morning of opening. At that point, on Wednesday 20th May 2015, we had 347 members of our new shop cooperative, making them all joint owners of a business created for the benefit of our community. Seen here in sepia, sipping early morning champagne, are (left to right) current committee member Sarah Tremellen, former committee member Tim Allen and loyal volunteer Peter Daniel, who we miss very much. Ringing the old church bell are village children (clockwise from top left) Tilly and Will Morris, Thomas and William Bamford. (Apparently Zac Tremellen’s arm is in there somewhere too…) Happy memories. And a very happy 6th birthday to us!
