
…thanks to the efforts of village resident Sarah Hobson. For the past six years, Sarah has taken on the role of Christmas decorator-in-chief, making our elegant old church building look even more beautiful in darkest December. “The decorations were originally done on a budget with bits of painted wood,” says Sarah, “so it was time for an update. I’ve bought two pretty trees with lights which can be used over again and we have some new decals around the café windows.” Sarah has a background in art and design, so her baubles, gifts and stars are all perfectly placed. “I enjoy doing it,” says Sarah. “It gives me the Christmas spirit. I was used to doing seasonal displays in my roles as a design lecturer.” Artist, potter and textile expert Sarah has her own art studio in Ilmington, on the other side of Upper Green.
