Some 957 years later, it’s the turn of King Charles III – and all over the country, communities are gathering to mark the occasion. We start tomorrow (Sunday) at 12 noon with a street party on Ilmington’s Upper Green. Bring your own chairs and picnic blankets – we have the BBQ, the booze and the bunting! Then on Bank Holiday Monday, we’ll be in volunteer mode at the Community Shop and Café. Come and help us build a new café terrace from 9am and give the shop a deep clean from 1pm. There’ll be refreshments for the helpers and even lunch if you let us know you’re coming. (Call Michele Hall on 01608 682838 today.) Let’s make this very ancient and English tradition a weekend to remember!
