“There’s a bacon sandwich right there, with a nice cup of tea”

11.03.2023 by Admin //

“The Willersey bacon is my favourite and we love the bread from here. Also the pastries on a Sunday morning! We buy Barry the Butcher’s sausages from you, and his whole chickens.” Peering into his shopping basket, customer Wilf Buck is taking us through his purchasing preferences. We are grateful to everyone who shops with us, whether on a daily or an occasional basis. Many customers just pop in for one or two items – the newspaper, perhaps, or a litre of semi-skimmed – and we’d like to encourage people to add one or two extras to their community shop basket. It could be a packet of artisan biscuits for Granny, or something essential for the Food Bank. That extra purchase helps to keep us going, supporting a volunteer business that is at the heart of village life. “The village shop is very good for the one thing you’ve forgotten off your list,” says Wilf. “We love wandering up here. We have a chat, see some people. The shop has everything you need. I never come away empty-handed.” Bring us your lists! Your mindful shopping makes a big difference and we are extremely grateful
