“You wouldn’t believe I only washed it two days ago!” says estate worker Kieran, who had just popped into the community shop to buy a late lunch. Kieran’s quad bike is one of many agricultural vehicles that pass through Ilmington as, of course, we are surrounded by farms, fields and estates. Kieran works at the shoot on Foxcote Estate, beautiful land with long footpaths stretching from here to Ebrington. “I chase pheasants basically,” says Kieran. “The game season runs to February.” We appreciate all our customers, even – and maybe especially – the muddy ones.
