
Our amateur Jam Jury convened over pots of tea and lots of homemade scones to taste the strawberry jams in our first Jam Jamboree. A winner was declared: Angela Mason’s homemade strawberry jam is the cream of the crop this summer and we’ll be catching up with Angela soon to award her a bottle of Spirit of Ilmington fruit liqueur. “It was fun tasting all the jams,” said jury member Nikki Holt from Blockley. “It’s a tough job, but they weren’t going to taste themselves.” Armed with tasting notes and miniature spoons, the jury were unstinting in their search for a jam champion. There was the mandatory discussion about the pronunciation of “scone” and whether it was “jam before cream” or “cream before jam”, so we knew we’d got a room full of experts! We’d particularly like to thank Sarah Beebee for making 72 perfect little scones. A wonderful way to celebrate the strawberries of the season
