…a chance for a glass of wine and a “thank you” to the volunteers who cleaned the building and built the new Coronation Terrace at Ilmington Community Café. There was a short speech and a cutting of the ribbon by our very own Irene Sabin, who, at 85, helped to lay a slab on the day of the Big Help Out. “This terrace is now a great asset,” said Irene. “It really is the sunniest side of the café in the morning, especially in the spring and wintertime. I think it will ensure the outdoor area is greatly used.” Irene has lived in Ilmington all her life and was born here. You’ll often see her serving behind the counter in the community shop, because there’s no upper age limit to volunteering if you feel you have something to give. And Irene never fails to give everything she’s got.
