We’ve been spooning, tasting and judging this morning…

10.29.2021 by Admin //

…as the final entries rolled in for our autumn Compôtition! And we have a winner… Professional food judge Wendy Larner put your preserves through their paces and declared Anna Sabin’s Pear and Walnut Chutney to be Top of the Compotes. Equal runners-up are Mark O’Keefe’s Mirabelle Plum Jam and Susan Brock’s Apple and Orange Cider Jelly. “There was a really good standard of entries and a great variety,“ says Wendy. We had four chutneys, six jams and a jelly to choose from in the double-blind process. “The winning chutney is really interesting,” says Wendy. “It’s got beautiful autumn flavours and texture. It would go well with a creamy soft or blue cheese, or ham.” Anna will be presented with her bottle of Spirit of Ilmington fruit gin on Monday. Well done to all our home cooks and thank you for taking part!
