…and last year we had a really grumpy queen,” says Liz Morris. “This year they’ve been really good.” We are standing in Liz’s Ilmington garden next to three hives which will produce around 60 litres of glorious honey this year. “The honey is mainly Dave’s hobby,” says Liz of her momentarily absent husband. “Dave likes a project. He’s a management consultant and he says it’s a relaxing contrast to work. But I have got a bee suit.” We love a local product at the Community Shop and we’re proud to be the first retail outlet for Liz and Dave’s new apiarian adventure. Kincraig Honey (named after their house) is about as local as we can get. Liz and son Will, 18, have also started a dog sitting and walking business, Warwickshire Walks, so the whole family is embracing rural life with a passion. “I’ve got some pots to boil, then I’ll take more honey up to the shop this afternoon,” says Liz. Busy as a bee she is, and not a grumpy queen in sight.
