For birthday boy Kevin Johnson, the answer was our cosy Community Shop – for a mince pie with clotted cream and a cheeky glass of mulled wine. “This is a very quick birthday celebration,” says his wife Jo, “because we’ve got a puppy called Walnut and we can’t leave him for long. He’s a chocolate cocker spaniel and he’s only 13 weeks old.” After soup and a cheese scone, Kevin opted for the Christmas mulled wine combo. “We were just saying the view is lovely and we should come more often,” says Jo. Ilmington Community Café is here for the everyday and the extraordinary. We are run by volunteers and we open from Tuesday to Saturday with homemade cake and a smile.
