…you can do it occasionally; you can do it on your own or with a buddy; you can do it behind the scenes, you can be front of house – there are lots of ways to volunteer for us! This is National Volunteers Week, our chance to thank all the wonderful people who keep the wheels turning at Ilmington Community Shop and Café. We met Mandy Plant on her regular Monday morning shift (7-9am) and Sean Clifford, who helps out when he can. “For me it’s about community, that’s all I can say,” said Mandy, who also bakes cakes for the Café. “It’s been three years since we moved in and I’ve really been welcomed into the village.” Sean was happily sorting out the milk delivery. “I just like to help when I can,” he said. “I value the shop and I think we need to keep it going. When I was recovering from operations recently, I came along to volunteer. You learn about where you live – you miss a lot if you’re not here.” Thank you volunteers, you are priceless to us. And if you’re interested to join the team, call Michele or Laura on 01608 682838 to find out more
